Scientists re-purposing antibody therapies to treat COVID-19
Victorian scientists are seeking a medical breakthrough using antibodies to treat coronavirus as one of 17 projects funded by the state government.
Antibody therapies are commonly used to treat some forms of cancer and immune disorders.
AMA Vice President Chris Moy said, “what happens is that the antibodies are artificially created and developed and then they’re injected into you and then they attack whatever you want them to attack”.
He said research into antibody therapies was still at a very preliminary stage and would take some time to develop.
